Pop Up
Card
Start with a
piece of card 10.5in by 5in. Score as shown. The narrow dimension is scored at
2.5in. The long dimension is scored at .5in, 3in, 5.5in, and 8in, leaving a
last 2.5in section.
Cut as
shown:
Cut down to
the centre line only. Remove the extra tab section from the top, and ‘envelope’
the corners of the tab.
Fold along
score lines as shown
Before assembling
the box, decorate with patterned paper. For the squares of 2.5in, 2.25 in
squares work well, but it’s up to you. You only need to decorate the outside of
the lower part of the box. It’s probably better to decorate both sides of the
top.
Attach at the
tab and the box structure is complete.
Take two or
three pieces of card 3.5 in by .5in. Score at .5in from each end. Fold at the
scores, and insert into the box using wet glue to attach. It’s probably a good
idea to fold the box structure flat both ways to make sure everything will fold
as it should when finished. These pieces should be placed with their surfaces
vertical, between .5in and 1.5in below the top of the box base. They will be
used to attach your decorations/flowers.
Use the punches
provided to make some flowers, and add some card ‘stems’ which you can stick to
the support pieces inside the box. (Or use some other type of decoration if you
brought some.)
