3D Decoupage

 If you're a crafter, you may have heard of a technique called 'decoupage'. Confusingly, the word is used for two completely different techniques. We had a go at one type last year, using rice paper to decorate boxes, plant pots and other things. Recently, we had a go at the 'other one'!

We used images from Hundkydory from a company called Top Topper Shop who sell smaller packs of images, allowing us more options without having a lot of extra at the end.

Waterfall Cards

 This week, we had a go at Waterfall cards. This is a technique that definitely gives a different sort of feel to a greetings card, and they're great for scrapbooks and photo albums too.

I've added four photos here so you can get an idea of how the waterfall mechanism works.

Most images came from Philo Designart who sells on Etsy - the stained glass style. These are gorgeous, bright and beautiful and work well in the 2.75in size we used here. The Art Deco style images are public domain images previously purchased via Crafty Image Emporium, and the cats are from Joanna Sheen's Ivory Cats CDrom which is now discontinued. The pull tabs were cut using a Spellbinders die set, but the cards other parts were cut using trimmer, craft knife or scissors.

 It sounds like a strange idea, but here they are! Adrienne led this session, and there were bits of cotton buds pinging all around the room but we all enjoyed the project!

Needle Cases

 We started the new term making needlecases. For these, we used a combination of fabric, card, double-sided sticky sheets, and felt. We cut the basic shape using a Bigz die from Sizzix which we cut using a Big Shot. we used a couple of different closure options, and decorated with ribbon, bias binding and die cut shapes cut from Sizzix Surfacez in metallic colours to match the fabric.

Beryl liked the fabric so much, she decided no further embellishment was necessarty!

We had several members who couldn't make it to this meeting, so we'll reprise this project later this term.

Embroidery on Paper

 A few weeks ago, we spent some time trying embroidery on paper using patterns from the Stitching Cards and Form-a-line websites where there are several free patterns available as well as a large selection of paid patterns.
