Plastic Canvas Trinket Boxes

We've spent several meetings making plastic canvas trinket boxes using a variety of stitching materials - embroidery cotton, crochet yarn and double knitting on 7count plastic canvas. There's quite a lot of work in these, so it's taking a while to finish, but we've got some to share.

Beryl

Beryl used yarn to create two cube-shaped boxes with a geometric pattern.

Dominique

Dominique used two patterns adapted from Mary Hickmott's Easy as ABC - a booklet of patterns for making baby blocks or a beautiful baby blanket, but perfect for these boxes.

Nadi

Nadi adapted a pattern from One Nighters (Pastimes) by Janet Crews Designs for the butterfly, but designed her own pattern for the sides. She used single strand cross stitch and half-cross stitch on the top and double strand long stitch for the sides. And then adapted a couple of patterns from the Mary Hickmott book.

Sue
Sue has used a lovely mix of stitches in her own design and finished it off with some lovely pearls!

Tricia

Tricia used 6 strands of embroidery cotton for this box. The rainbow was adapted from Mary Hickmott's Easy as ABC booklet. She was using up some very old thread, so the rainbow theme suited perfectly! The top and sides were done in cross stitch, and the bottom in a double strand of long stitch.

Emboldened by the small size, Tricia decided to do something bigger!

She used two strands of acrylic double knitting yarn in a long stitch pattern. Because of the size of this one, she added some grey board under the felt for added rigidity, and filled the box with threads, ready for our next project.

And another in the original size, but using Anchor Artiste metallic thread.
